Logie Awards 2022: Australian TV stars stun on the red carpet

Former Spice Girl Mel B has joked about the amount of work it takes to get herself red carpet ready.

Flying in to Australia to attend the annual TV Week Logie Awards, the British singer put her best red carpet foot forward at the Gold Coast Convention Centre as a new judge on The Masked Singer.

“I do the make up myself, I woke up like this b*tch,” the 47-year-old said.

Moments earlier, Mel B’s team were spotted helping with make-up touch-ups amid the red carpet chaos.

Scary Spice, wearing a burnt orange coloured gown from West Australian label Zhivago, was joined by fellow newcomers to the Australian reality show judging panel, Abbie Chatfield and Chrissie Swan. Chatfield meanwhile wore Con Ilio while Swan opted for sleek black Cappellazzo Couture.

And true to her Scary Spice reputation, Mel B gave The Masked Singer host Osher Gunsberg ‘the bird’ as the team were escorted to the red carpet via golf buggy.

“How delightful,” Gunsberg mused.

“This is nuts. Everyone is buzzing, it’s the first Logies in like two years,” Mel B said.

“I have been many, many years ago. I’ve been all over the world for the last six months. I love what I do, I love my work, I get to be a spice girl, I get to travel the world, I’m just so happy to be back in Australia, my kids went to school here. It feels like my home turf.”

Mel B has already bonded with fellow judge Abbie Chatfield who was a red carpet knockout in Con Ilio.

“Hello Australia, I have missed you so much but I am back and I can’t wait to get the party started with Hughesy, Abbie and Chrissie,” Mel B said about the new TV gig earlier this month.

“Let me tell you though, I am the best-ever game player and I have something up my sleeve that none of these guys have … I’ve hidden behind these masks as a competitor not once but twice.

So I’m bringing all my secret inside knowledge to this. But more to the point, I’m bringing the fun. Fasten your seatbelts everyone, it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride.”

Mel B is no newcomer to Australian television. She has in fact appeared on numerous shows including The X Factor and The Voice Kids.

Comedian Dave Hughes, who wore Brent Wilson, is the only judge returning to the format this year while Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Dannii Minogue and Urzula Carlson have departed.
