IN a room full of the world's best actors and actresses, there were some seriously disappointing acceptance speeches at the Golden Globes this year.

In a moment of carcrash TV, Jacqueline Bissett rambled and swore her way through her two minutes on stage after winning Best Supporting Actress for Dancing on the Edge. At one point between awkward silences the veteran actress managed to thank those who had given her "pleasure and sh*t".

As much as we all love Jennifer Lawrence, the American Hustle star couldn't stop shaking and made a swift dash from the stage after admitting the whole ordeal was "terrifying".

Elisabeth Moss blurted out an exasperated "oh sh*t" as she stepped up to the mic to accept her Best Actress gong for Top of the Lake.

But amid the shockers was one absolute pearler - Matthew McConaughey.

The Hollywood heavyweight took to the stage to accept the Best Actor, Drama award for his role in Dallas Buyers Club and his two-and-a-half minutes in the spotlight was hands down the highlight of the night.

Why? Because he gave the people what they wanted. It was funny, it was emotion-filled, it was gracious. He thanked all the right people, including his own mother for pushing him to "get out there and do it for yourself". He thanked his gorgeous wife Camilla and his three little kids, and he did it all while donning a velvet green tuxedo.

And the best part? He was simply being Matthew McConaughey.

Here's hoping future award winners who are usually "just so shocked" and "didn't prepare anything" because they "never thought this would happen in a million years" take a leaf out of McConaughey's book.
