Logie Awards 2024: Best and worst dressed, red carpet arrivals

Sheer corsetry, old-school glam, a touch of home craft and fancy footwear made for an eclectic mix on the red carpet at Australian television’s biggest night. See who wore it best and worst.

Best and worst dress at the 2024 Logie Awards

Sheer corsetry, old-school glam and a touch of home craft – it was an eclectic mix on the red carpet at Australian television’s biggest night.

Julia Morris scored bonus points in the best dressed stakes for adding red glitter to her Adidas Gazal sneakers to match her Alin Le Kal gown.

“I got the Gorilla Glue out,” Morris said. “I custom made those (shoes). I went to Shine Trimmings and Fabrics on Friday because the shoes were red and white and I was like, ‘I don’t know about that’. I don’t know if I need to be supporting the Sydney Swans on the night of the Logies’.”

Held at Sydney’s The Star, the biggest names in the industry walked the red carpet.

Confidential’s other best dressed picks included Kate Ritchie in custom Leah Da Gloria and recent Dancing With The Stars winner Lisa McCune, herself a four-time Gold Logie winner, in Sonia Cappellazzo.

“It’s a knit. It is all gold thread,” McCune said, joking her dress was made out of her trophies. “Melted down and reformed as a dress because it’s 2024 and that’s just what you do.”

Home and Away star Emily Weir’s revealing custom pink tulle and bugle bead gown proved divisive, with Confidential split on which side of the best and worst it sat.

Her co-stars Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart made their red carpet debut as a couple.

“We’re really happy and excited to be here,” Nicodemou said.

“I keep on reminding him I might have won Dancing with The Stars twice.

“It’s really good. It’s lovely to be here. Obviously we work on the show so we are always turning up together. We’re presenting an award.”

Vogue Australia’s Francesca Wallace noted Andy Lee’s partner Rebecca Harding Effie Katz’s frock, with its boat neckline, blush pink hue and timeless column silhouette, was a sartorial ode to Hollywood and the perfect nod to Australia’s small screen stars.

There were many more other spectacular offerings.

ABC Breakfast presenter Tony Armstrong wore an edgy Reigner suit while Sam Corlett is Confidential’s pick for best dressed bloke with his crisp white shirt and classic black suit combo.

“I do find the red carpets a bit busy,” Armstrong said.

“We’re all from tele(vision) so everyone wants to be seen and heard so everyone goes up a notch. It is quite overwhelming.”

Guy Sebastian never disappoints, on this occasion working with long-time stylist Dale McKie on a custom double-breasted suit.

While there were many good fashion choices, some left Confidential scratching our heads.

Samantha Armytage’s navy blue gown fell flat, coming across dowdy. Perhaps she was left to do her own styling after announcing her departure from Channel 7.

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! winner Skye Wheatley pulled from her own wardrobe – next time, she could do with seeking some fashion help.

We’re sure ABC Classic breakfast host Megan Burslem is great on radio.

Her fashion choices leave a lot to be desired. Maybe she went for shock factor.

While well intentioned, reality star Brittany Hockley unfortunately came across more toilet doily than Barbie chic.

Stars strut their stuff on Logies red carpet

Vogue Australia’s Francesca Wallace said: “Trust Zoe Foster Blake to always look timeless at the Logies. A hint of embellishment combined with her signature fresh makeup look and she is glowing! I love the bodice detailing in particular, a modern twist on a classic shape.”

“Asher Keddie’s monochromatic look is ticking all our boxes. Understated and minimalistic, the front cinching and plunge neckline provide detail and intrigue.”

Wallace added a nod to Kate Richie.

“Kate Richie’s fitted corset-style gown proves a grown-up take on the ‘naked dress’ trend sweeping the international runways,” she said.

“Classic and reminiscent of Old Hollywood, Kate has mixed a beautiful neutral colourway with the sexiness of a corset for a fresh take. The addition of the structural gold bag is the perfect accessory.
