Dave Hughes promises to open the show in a controversial manner full of the year’s scandals

THE comedian will host tonight’s Logie Awards and has promised to be as ruthless as possible when it comes to exposing the year’s best scandals.

LAST year Dave Hughes didn’t hold back on the 60 Minutes Beirut stuff up or on Shane Warne’s reputation as a womaniser and now the comedian is promising to deliver the same level of controversy at tonight’s Logie Awards.

Hughes, who is hosting the annual TV Week awards for the third time this year, has revealed he’s ready to dredge up the best scandals of 2016.

And, considering everything that’s gone on in the past 12 months, the comedian has plenty to work with.

In a recent interview with Newscorp, Hughes has promised the embattled CEO of Channel 7 Tim Worner will “absolutely” get a mention.

Worner saw his affair with former Seven employee Amber Harrison hit headlines and the Supreme Court in December after Harrison went public.

“I’m trying to work out how I can do it (without getting into legal trouble),” Hughes said.

And, of course the infamous ‘jacketgate’ will get a mention.

To refresh your memory, Channel Nine journalist Amber Sherlock had an on-camera outburst at her colleague Julia Snook after realising herself, Snook and psychologist Sandy Rea were all wearing white minutes before going to air.

The three women were all dressed in white right before going to air.

“I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on — Julie, you need to put a jacket on,” a perturbed Sherlock demanded.

Snook later appeared on air in a black jacket.

Hughes also told news.com.au on Friday that Today host Karl Stefanovic needs to watch out.

“Just think of the headlines this year ... the relationship issues could get a mention,” Hughes said.

“Karl is a great guy, he loves a laugh ... he might get a mention but he’ll take it in good spirits. He might get a mention,” he added.

While Hughes is well known for his cutting and topical style of comedy, the host did admit he’s a little worried about some of his jokes.

“It is a tricky one because you don’t want people to hate you forever after you’ve done a joke about them.

“There are certain things I won’t do but there are other things (such as Worner) that are screaming to be alluded to,” he said.

Dave Hughes hosts the 59th Annual TV Week Logie Awards tonight from 7.30pm on Nine.
