ANYONE hoping to get more romance as well as the usual drama of this year’s Logies is set to have their heart broken — with some of TV’s hottest couples keeping their love lives off the red carpet.
Channel 9 has confirmed Karl Stefanovic won’t be taking new girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough as his date for the industry gala, coming as it is just a fortnight after his divorce from wife Cassandra Thorburn was finalised.
A Nine spokeswoman told Switched On: “Karl is going solo,” as is his new sister-in-law Sylvia Jeffreys, who will co-host the evening’s fashions preview (along with Today colleague Lisa Wilkinson), from 7pm.
Stefanovic’s brother Peter will also be an absentee, away filming a story for 60 Minutes.
The stars of Foxtel’s psychological thriller, The Kettering Incident and nominees Elizabeth Debicki and Tilda Cobham-Hervey will both be no-shows; with fans missing out on the chance to see the leading ladies with their significant others.
Debicki’s partner, Alexander England (who plays Asher Keddie’s on-screen love interest Harry Crew) will attend with his Offspring co-stars; while Debicki is away promoting Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and preparing for her role in Widows alongside Viola Davis.
Cobham-Hervey, nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer, recently went public with her relationship with Lion star Dev Patel, but both are busy filming the final scenes of the movie they met on, Hotel Mumbai.
On the ‘yes’ guest list are The Bachelor’s Richie Strahan and Alex Nation and The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love and Lee Elliott; while Keddie and her artist husband Vincent Fantauzzo are also planning to attend.
Last year’s Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly and wife Susan Carland will be back, while his The Project co-star Carrie Bickmore is taking her mum Jennie.
The 59th annual Logie awards air from 7pm, Sunday April 23 on Channel 9.
