Selena Gomez and Emily Blunt have united in a hilarious way to mock their respective viral lip-reading moments at the Golden Globes.
After being targeted by online lip readers during last week’s awards, the two actresses saved face and covered their mouths when they met up with each other during the AFI Awards in Los Angeles Friday night.
The two friends were captured inside the Four Seasons Hotel as they stared down the camera with their hands in front of their mouths.
“We shall not speak lol,” the Only Murders in the Building star wrote on her Instagram story after the event.
Blunt, who portrayed Katherine Oppenheimer in the World War 2 drama, faced divorce rumours when online sleuths debated what was being said between the actress and husband John Krasinski
“I’ve watched this 500 times trying to convince myself he said something other than divorce,” one TikTok user wrote after watching a video of the couple on the red carpet last Sunday.
While social media users speculated the two were having marriage troubles at the Golden Globes, a person close to the couple confirmed the topic of divorce was not discussed.
“There are no issues with Emily and John,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They are absolutely not talking about divorce.”
“They think the rumours are funny and ridiculous.”
Gomez, who stars alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short in the HULU comedy series, was caught inside the awards show in a full-on gossip session with pals Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry.
The three were caught huddled close together while whispering wide-eyed to each other from their seats at the star-studded inside the Beverly Hilton hotel.
Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman exclusively told Page Six the actress had been denied a picture with someone.
“He didn’t want a picture with me. He said no,” Gomez said, according to Freeman’s analysis.
Fans believed Gomez was talking about Timothée Chalamet, with some adding it was Kylie Jenner who had stopped her boyfriend from posing with the actress for a photo.
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum has since clarified what she told Swift and Sperry, saying she was talking about two of her friends who had gotten together.
“I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up,” the actress commented on E! News’ Instagram post. “Not that that’s anyone business.”
Both Oppenheimer and Only Murders in the Building were honoured by the American Film Institute on Friday after being selected to the Top 10 film and television programs lists, respectively.
