JIMMY Fallon is late night TV’s Mr Nice Guy. He’s hilarious, but rarely at other people’s expense.
Next week the 42-year-old star of The Tonight Show will take on the mammoth challenge of hosting the Golden Globe Awards.
As we all know, one of the most memorable parts of a Hollywood awards show is the opening monologue when the host warms up the crowd with a series of punchy jokes.
To get an idea of Fallon’s type of humour, we’ve complied a list of some of his best jokes from the 2016 opening monologues from The Tonight Show:
“Donald Trump loves Christmas. It’s the one time of year where he can say, ‘Those are real, those are fake,’ and claim he was talking about Christmas trees.”
“In a recent interview, Kourtney Kardashian said that she eats avocado pudding for breakfast. That’s when you know the Kardashians are out of touch — when they don’t even know the word for ‘guacamole.’”
“There are reports that a frost in France’s champagne region could cause a worldwide champagne shortage. So if you’re worried about a champagne shortage, congratulations on having an otherwise pretty great life.”
“I read that hoarding is getting worse in the US and affects over 15 million Americans. Of course, it might be higher now because I read that in a newspaper I’ve been saving since 2003.”
“Actress Dakota Johnson is currently filming two sequels to Fifty Shades of Grey and said, ‘I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight and I’m over it.’ While married women were like, ‘Try doing it for 30 years honey.’”
“NASA just confirmed that an asteroid that entered the earth’s atmosphere last week actually caused a sonic boom over Arizona. So don’t worry everyone — if an asteroid comes close to earth NASA will be sure to fill us in ... a few days later.”
“The Harry Potter studio tour just announced that it’s hosting a Valentine’s Day dinner in the Great Hall from Hogwarts. It’s great for couples or for single guys who claim their date is wearing an invisibility cloak.”
“A company in Japan has developed an ‘armpit fan’ that clips to your shirtsleeves to help keep you from sweating. Yeah, tiny fans for your armpits ... you know, because having sweat stains could make you look like an idiot.”
The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on Monday, January 9 at midday on FOX8
