ARIA 2021 nominations: Amy Shark, The Kid LAROI among nominees

The full list of nominees for November’s ARIAs have been announced, with Amy Shark and Genesis Owusu leading the pack.

2021 ARIA Awards go 'gender neutral'

Amy Shark and Genesis Owusu have led the nominations for this year’s ARIAs.

The Australian artists have landed six nominations apiece for music’s night of nights, with Budjerah, Masked Wolf, Midnight Oil, The Avalanches, Tones and I and Vance Joy trailing closely behind with five nods each.

It comes as the ARIAs announced its nominees on YouTube on Wednesday, after it shunned gendered categories in a bid to make the music awards ceremony more inclusive.

Organisers said last month there would be no Best Male Artist or Best Female Artist at November’s show, in favour of a sole Best Artist award.

There will be 10 nominees in the running for the gong, as opposed to five in each of the previous categories.

The 2021 ARIA Awards ceremony will take place on November 24, and will stream on YouTube.
