Heartbroken Bachelorette star Angie Kent has revealed she spent weeks in bed as her relationship with Carlin Sterritt ended.
Breaking her silence on the couple’s demise, Kent said she was seeing a therapist and still coming to terms with the split as she spent time with family in Queensland.
“I was hiding in bed a lot for the first couple of weeks dealing with all the feels and the constant speculation of whether or not we had broken up, when at that stage we had not,” Kent, 30, said.
“We were trying to navigate a tricky situation just like any couple. The pressure of the rumours and all the speculation, untrue articles, being hassled by paps, really started to build up.
“I am navigating it all and dealing with all the feelings and thoughts as they arise. I am back home in Queensland with my friends and family, and have an amazing therapist who is helping me.”
In an interview with The House of Wellness, Kent said it had been difficult to cope with the public scrutiny over the demise of the relationship.
Kent and Sterritt met on The Bachelorette in 2019 and dated for the past year.
They announced their split on their respective Instagram accounts earlier this month after weeks of rumours.
“As much as people seem to think I am just some character on a show, I am a human just like everyone else with huge feelings and my own personal life going on, on top of navigating this relationship and then having to accept the fact that it didn’t pan out the way I thought it would,” Kent said.
Now she is slowly starting to rebuild herself after the break-up.
“I am finding my groove and keeping busy and making sure I take the time to really dig deep and learn and grow from every experience that comes my way,” she said.
Despite nursing a broken heart, Kent said she has no regrets about appearing on The Bachelorette.
“I have learnt so much about myself and there is so much more to come,” Kent said.
“Plus, I got to fall in love for the first time. I have loved and lost this time, but I would rather that than still being scared to not love at all. For that I will be forever grateful.”
Kent appears in The House of Wellness liftout, in today’s News Corp papers, in an interview conducted pre-split.
She also opens up about how pets can help our mental health and how she is looking after her wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
