Alec Baldwin reveals his mother has died at the age of 92

Alec Baldwin has suffered a devastating family tragedy amid the legal dispute over the accidental on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec Baldwin’s mum Carol has passed away aged 92.

The actor announced the news today with a touching tribute on social media, as reported by The Sun.

Taking to Instagram, 64-year-old Alec shared two pictures of his mum, one from when she was young, and a more recent image.

He wrote: “It is with the deepest regret that my family posts the following statement.

“Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, William and Stephen Baldwin and two daughters, Elizabeth and Jane, died today in Syracuse, New York. She was 92.”

In addition to her six children, Carol leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

One member of her famous family is Hailey Bieber, who is Stephen’s daughter.

Hailey re-shared the post from her uncle to her Instagram Stories, adding the text: “We love you grandma” with a white heart and a dove emoji.

The family statement shared some interesting facts about Carol.

After raising her six children, she survived a breast cancer diagnosis in 1991 and went on to raise millions of dollars for cancer research with The State University of New York.

Carol dedicated the second half of her life to finding a cure for breast cancer, and inspired her three-time Golden Globe-winning son with her devotion.

The family’s statement contained some personal words from Alec, who said: “My mother taught me about second acts. And third ones, too.

“She spent the last 25 years of her life as a fighter and a champion for the cause to which she devoted her life.

“We are all enormously proud of her accomplishments.”

The family bereavement comes at a difficult time for Alec, who is dealing with the fallout from the accidental shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the movie Rust.

Alec made headlines after he shot a prop gun that resulted in the death of Rust crew member Halyna Hutchins.

The accidental shooting occurred on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Haylna’s family has sued the star over the “reckless” on-set shooting.

The lawsuit claims that Alec, along with other defendants in the case, “failed to perform industry standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules while using real guns to produce the movie Rust, with fatal consequences.”
