Shocking footage has emerged of a violent brawl at a Victorian secondary school, with dozens of students seen trading blows.

Videos of vicious schoolyard fights at Greater Shepparton Secondary College’s McGuire campus, which were filmed last week, show dozens of students brawling, with one boy kicked to the ground.

The footage then shows a teacher attempting to break up the altercation by forcing one of the students into a staffroom.

In another disturbing video, a boy is set upon by another student and cowardly punched in the head.

Parents told the Herald Sun the brawl was reported to police by a student, with one boy taken to hospital after the fight.

It comes after police were called to the school’s Wanganui campus last month after reports of students fighting.

Footage last month showed punches being thrown and one boy shouting “get him … go boys”, while girls scream and some students appear to try to drag others to safety.

Several parents have told the Herald Sun, they have been left “terrified” by recent violence, which has plagued the school.

The school was also forced into lockdown last month due to increasing violence, with security guards employed to patrol the grounds to prevent more attacks from occurring.

One parent, who asked not to be named, said students were arming themselves in the schoolyard with dangerous weapons including shanks.

“These attacks are vicious, there not just one-off attacks – they’ve been happening since February last year,” she said.

“We’re scared someone is going to get seriously hurt if this ongoing violence doesn’t stop, it’s out of control.”

The college, which was created in 2020 by merging four Shepparton schools together, has been a source of ongoing controversy in the community.

Parents told the Herald Sun the school needed to be “urgently” divided.

“There are too many kids at one school, they need to be separated and as parents we deserve a choice.

“Before this school started, we never had a problem like this, there were fights but nothing of this magnitude,” one parent said.

The college’s Wanganui campus principal Jon Neall also took personal leave last week in the wake of ongoing violence.

In September, the ‘super school’ was revealed to have a steep decline in enrolments, recording a drop of more than 200 students from last year.

Greater Shepparton Secondary College executive principal Barbara O’Brien said the health and wellbeing of its students was a top priority and any form of violence or bullying was completely unacceptable.

“All appropriate actions have been taken in recent weeks to ensure a return to a safe and calm school environment, including the provision of extra teachers, additional wellbeing and support staff and the presence of security to ensure the safety of students and staff,” Ms O’Brien said.
