Melbourne schoolgirls called ‘thots’ in ‘disrespectful’ TikToks

Melbourne schoolgirls are being sexually vilified in a series of degrading TikToks, as a war on words erupts among students online.

Melbourne schoolboys are sharing names of schools attended by sexually available “thot” female students.

A series of brazen social media posts on TikTok shames girls from both private and public schools across Melbourne.

“Thot” is defined by one online dictionary as “a woman who has many casual sexual encounters or relationships”.

Posts called “Melbourne schools that have literally the most thots” include girls’ schools such as Star of the Sea in Brighton, Mount St Joseph Girls’ College in Altona, Ave Maria College in Aberfeldie, Marian College in Sunshine West and coeducational John Paul College in Frankston.

State schools mentioned include Suzanne Cory High School, Keilor Downs College, Point Cook Senior Secondary College, Bentleigh Secondary College, Wyndham Senior Secondary, Box Hill High and Williamstown High, among others.

The posts were widely shared, with users leaving comments such as “Thanks now I know where to look” and offering the names of other schools.

`The names of schools were shared with apparent enthusiasm by some girls.

In other cases, girls are hitting back, posting about boys from schools “I wouldn’t let hold my drink”.

One such post mentions Marcellin College, Ivanhoe Grammar, St Kevin’s College and Mill Park Secondary College.

Another post notes: “Girls never trust boys who go to these schools” and includes Parade College, John Fawkner College, Coburg High School and Reservoir High.

But girls are also posting their own lists of the “cutest boys” and “hottest boys” and even “Schools that can hold our drinks” which include St Kevin’s College, Marcellin College, Frankston High, Xavier College and Whitefriars.

Cyber safety expert Susan McLean said the “thot” posts were “disrespectful in the extreme”.

“TikTok is a cesspool that does nothing to remove inappropriate content,” she said.

Ms McLean said it would be easy for boys to be identified. “In this environment how can anyone think this is a good idea?”

Jacqueline Jayne, security awareness advocate from KnowBe4, said there was “much of this material online”.

“It’s evidence of how some boys see girls — not all boys, but groups of boys,” she said. “Some girls are happy to be part of it, without realising the long-term effects.”

Data from the eSafety Commissioner shows 44 per cent of teens had a negative experience online last year.

Ms Jayne said the posts were a “digital form of graffiti like someone writing ‘for a good time call…’”.

“But it’s amplified online — schools can be cleaned but digital lasts forever,” she said.

An Education Department spokesman said the wellbeing of students “is our highest priority and this kind of behaviour isn’t tolerated.”

The posts come amid a NSW petition started by Chanel Contos that contains testimonials from more than 3000 students about their sexual abuse by male peers. Dozens of Victorian schools were named, with girls reporting abuse from boys, both present and past.
