Victorian areas with the highest and lowest vaccination rates

These are the parts of Victoria lagging behind when it comes to getting vaccinated against Covid-19, and who’s in front.

The people of Geelong are leading the fight against Covid-19 as the most vaccinated population in Victoria and boast the third highest inoculation rate in the entire country.

One in every five people aged over 15 in the region (25.9 per cent) have had two shots of a Covid-19 vaccine and 51.4 per cent have had at least one jab.

Residents of Melbourne’s northwest are the least vaccinated population in the state, according to the first official federal government figures showing vaccination rates by region.

Just 15.6 per cent of people who live there have had two shots of a Covid-19 vaccine and only 34.7 per cent have had at least one jab.

Bendigo is fast catching up with Geelong.

That region boasts the most number of people who have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 shot.

Half the population (52.6 per cent) have had one shot of the vaccine and 25.1 per cent have had two jabs.

In Warnambool and the southwest, 51.6 per cent of people aged over 15 have had one jab and 23 per cent two jabs.

In other regions, including Hume and La Trobe, Mornington Peninsula, half the population has had at least one shot of a vaccine.

In Shepparton and the northwest, more than 45 per cent of people have had at least one jab.

In Melbourne, people living in both the inner and outer suburbs are lagging behind in the vaccination tally.

In inner Melbourne only 37.7 per cent of people have had a first dose of the vaccine in the northeast, just 39.8 per cent have had a first shot in the west just 34.8 per cent have had a single shot.

Half (49 per cent) of the residents of Melbourne’s inner south have had a single shot and 23.1 per cent have had two jabs.

Nearly half (47.4 per cent) of those in the inner east have had a single shot and 22.4 per cent have had both jabs.
