Restrictions are easing here is what you can and can’t do in Victoria

The next easing of restrictions for Victoria has been revealed. Here’s the list of what you can and can’t do from October 19 including a search tool to test how far you can travel in Melbourne under Dan Andrews’ new rules.

Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the next easing of restrictions will begin from October 19.

Here’s all the questions you need answered about the path from here.

RULES FOR METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE:

FROM MONDAY OCTOBER 19

For what reason can I leave the house?

There are still four reasons to leave the house but there is no limit on the amount of time you can spend outside.

How far from my house can I go?

The 5km travel limit has been boosted to 25km for exercise and shopping.

Can I meet anyone outside for social interaction?

Yes. Up to 10 people from two households can meet outdoors for social interaction.

Can I have anyone over to my house?

No the household bubble remains for singles until November 1 when further changes are made.

How long can I exercise for?

No limit on exercise time.

What about health services?

All allied health professionals can now resume routine face-to-face consultations and care.

Will there be changes for sport and recreation?

Yes. Golf, tennis and skate parks will all reopen, but clubhouses will be out of bounds. Outdoor pools can increase to 30 swimmers but indoor pools will only reopen for one-on-one hydrotherapy.

Can I go to work?

If you can work from home you must continue to but other services that can take place outdoors will reopen — these include pool cleaning, mobile pet groomers, photographers, tradies undertaking maintenance and repair work, house painting can also resume with a maximum of five workers. Outdoor and automated car washes.

HOW FAR IS 25KM FROM YOUR HOME?

Will there be changes to shopping, retail and personal services?

Yes but minimal. Hairdressers will reopen with safety measures in place. Beauty services will not. Retail remains closed and hospitality continues with takeaway only.

Are there any changes to travel within Victoria?

No. The rules continue which stops travel to regional Victoria and interstate.

What about real estate?

Auctions outdoors can resume with up to 10 people plus required staff.

What about masks?

You must continue to wear a fitted face mask.

What about the Grand Final?

You must not have people over to your home for the Grand Final, even if it’s in the backyard or frontyard. You can meet people outdoors away from your home but you must comply with limits.

FROM NOVEMBER 1:

For what reason can I leave the house?

There be no restrictions on the reasons you can leave the house.

How far from my house can I go?

While it’s not locked in Premier Daniel Andrews has said he expects the 25km travel limit to remain after November 1.

Can I have anyone over to my house?

Yes. Two people and their children can visit another home but only once per day. This is not a bubble or exclusive arrangement but you must comply with only having people over once a day.

How long can I exercise for?

No limit on exercise time.

Will there be changes for sport and recreation?

Yes. Outdoor contact sport for under 18s will resume and non-contact for adults will resume.

Can I go to work?

If you can work from home you must continue to but a much larger number of services will be open for work.

Will there be changes to shopping, retail and personal services?

Yes. Retail and beauty services will now reopen. Hospitality will also reopen with restrictions of 20 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. Those who work in these industries can return to work on October 28 for a ‘dark opening’ to begin preparations for reopening.

Are there any changes to travel within Victoria?

No. The rules continue which stops travel to regional Victoria and interstate.

What about religious gatherings?

Outdoor gatherings can have a maximum of 20 adults.

What about weddings and funerals?

Weddings can now have 10 people and funerals 20.

What about masks?

You must continue to wear a fitted mask.

RESTRICTIONS FOR REGIONAL VICTORIA

What about additional changes in regional Victoria from October 19?

Regional libraries and toy libraries will be open to a maximum of 20 people indoors.

Outdoor religious gatherings with up to 20 people.

Hospitality will be able to host up to 40 customers indoors and up to 70 outdoors.

Indoor pools will open for under 18s and a maximum of 20 swimmers.

What about from November 1?

Non contact indoor recreation, for example dancing, for under 18s can resume with a maximum of 20 people. Non contact indoor community sport for under 18s can resume with limits on spectators.

Outdoor religious gatherings will increase to 50 people.
