Hospitality, retail to reopen this week in two-phase easing of Melbourne restrictions

Melbourne’s hospitality and retail industries will finally reopen this week under new changes to be announced within the hour. This is what else is in store under the two-phase easing of the city’s restrictions.

Lockdown lifted: All the restrictions being eased in Victoria from October 27

Premier Daniel Andrews is expected to make a significant announcement about easing of restrictions in the next hour.

The Herald Sun understands it will deliver Victorians a two-phase restriction easing, one later this week and another in two to four weeks.

Retail and hospitality will reopen this week and all other restrictions set to be eased on November 2 will be brought forward.

The second phase is expected to also deliver a significant step for the state towards the “COVID-normal” way of life.

Restrictions that had been set to be lifted on November 2 but will now happen earlier included the abolition of the four reasons to leave home, an increase of people able to meet outside to 10 and up to two people able to visit a home once per day.

Outdoor contact sport for those aged under 18 was also on the recovery road map from November 2 and a return for beauty services.
