The Australian National Talent Registry launched for jobseekers

Jobseekers who were stood down, lost their job or are rethinking their careers in the COVID-19 crisis have a new hope to land work. SIGN UP HERE

Five easy ways to appear more confident and ace your next job interview

The Australian National Talent Registry is a free service created in partnership between recruitment technology provider Shortlyster and News Corp to connect jobseekers with work, and work to jobseekers, during the COVID-19 crisis.

WHO CAN REGISTER?

The registry was created to help Australian jobseekers who have been adversely affected by COVID-19, such as being stood-down or their role was made redundant, to find new jobs with companies hiring right now.

However, any Australian jobseeker who is looking for a new job now, for any reason, also can register.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Jobseekers can express their interest via dailytelegraph.com.au/careers, heraldsun.com.au/careers, couriermail.com.au/careers or theadvertiser.com.au/careers and build a profile on the Shortlyster site. They can select their preferred sector/industry and working style.

When employers start hiring, the Shortlyster technology will assess the requirements outlined when employers post jobs with candidate profiles.

Jobseekers will be invited via email to apply for the roles they are matched with, giving them the choice as to whether they are considered.

The profile only needs to be completed once, however jobseekers can edit their details at any time.

The profile will remain active – and therefore assessed for any future jobs listed on the site – until the jobseeker turns it off.

Jobseekers can sign up to the Australian National Talent Registry in as little as 15 minutes.

WHAT WILL I BE ASKED?

A series of questions on the topic ‘Job Happiness’ will be asked as part of cultural fit analysis, on the subjects of preferred work environment, duties and approach to work.

It may include if the jobseeker wants to work on computers, complete manual labour, are innovative or risk adverse, or want to work independently or part of a team.

Qualifications and technical skills held can be added.

A resume can be uploaded, along with links to a LinkedIn profile, professional websites and other digital media.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A PROFILE?

A profile can be set up in 15 minutes.

Jobseekers can complete their profile in parts, so can save an incomplete profile and resume building it at any time.

WHO WILL CONTACT ME AFTER I APPLY FOR A JOB?

Employers who have posted jobs will receive a shortlist of pre-screened and aligned candidates to their vacancy, without sifting through thousands of CVs.

They will contact applicants directly for an interview.

Your profile personal details are confidential. Only when you accept the invite to apply will your details be made available to the employer.

Jobseekers will be asked the type of work they enjoy when setting up a Shortlyster profile.

WILL I BE SPAMMED WITH JOB MATCHES THAT ARE NOT RELEVANT TO ME?

Jobseekers may be matched to roles they previously had not considered or believe may be irrelevant to their qualifications and attributes.

However, rest assured that your skills are indeed a match and a possible new career opportunity has been uncovered for you.

The Australian National Talent Registry goes beyond skill-fit assessments and matches candidates and employers based on work preferences, culture and personality fit.

It uses science and data to match you to your ideal work preferences.

It also removes all forms of human bias to accurately connect jobseekers with hiring companies and their vacancies across Australia, or in your specified area.

Jobseekers can turn off their profile at any time.

HOW WILL YOU PROTECT MY INFORMATION AND PRIVACY?

Your personal information will only be used for the primary purpose for which it was collected.

By applying to a position advertised via the registry, jobseekers are requesting that their information is passed on to the relevant employer.

The Australian National Talent Registry will take reasonable steps to ensure the security of any information jobseekers provide, including destroying or permanently de-identifying personal information, if it is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed.
