There will never be anyone in motorsport quite like Ayrton Senna. An icon and legend of Formula 1, this month marks what would’ve been the Brazilian great’s 60th birthday. The winner of 41 GP titles and three drivers’ championships, his breathtaking career was tragically ended when he crashed while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. His last victory would, in fact, be in Australia, climbing to the top of the podium at the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide in 1993. Memorialising his loss to motorsport and to celebrate the life of one of the most skilled and daring drivers to ever take to the track, Kayo will dedicate a special Ayrton Senna ‘carousel’ or slate of programs, highlighting his most famous races. They include the 1993 European Grand Prix and The Lap of the Gods, while The Inside Line takes a look at his infamous rivalry with Frenchman Alain Prost. And for those who want to stay revved up over, while this 2020 GP series is postponed, stream every practice, qualifying and race session from last year; as well as 2018 and 2019 seasons in review.

30 FOR 30

Streaming on demand, Kayo

ESPN’s ‘30 for 30’ series has taken its place as the gold standard for sports documentaries over the past decade and become essential viewing for fans all over the world. Kayo is home to an extensive library of ‘30 for 30’ episodes, detailing the rise or fall of players, teams and sporting empires. Catch never-before-seen footage and interviews, and immerse yourself in some of the greatest storytelling from world-class directors.

This week, we spotlight two stunning documentaries which profile two of the world’s most polarising and controversial sporting figures. O.J.: Made In America is 30 for 30’s audacious documentary series on the life of the former NFL star, actor, commentator, and convicted criminal. Winning an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, it goes far beyond Simpson’s infamous Bronco chase and court trial, telling the story of his life against the backdrop of celebrity and race in America. It explains how O.J. became one of the country’s most popular athletes and identities and avoided conflict when racial tensions erupted in Los Angeles; before being accused and acquitted of the murder of his estranged wife Nicole and her friend, Ron Goldman.

The five-part series features extensive archival footage and interviews, and simply cannot be missed.

Also add June 17th, 1994 for a fascinating look at that fateful day Simpson’s car chase captured the attention of the world.

Then there’s Rodman: For Better or Worse, which tells the inside story of one of basketball and sport’s unique characters: former Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman. Exploring themes of power, identity and the perils of fame, Rodman’s take on it all comes straight from the mouth of the five-time NBA champion, as well as those closest to him.

Special guest cameos include Bulls teammate Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas and legendary coach Phil Jackson. The two-hour documentary gives compelling insight into a journey which began with a tough childhood in Dallas, before he turned flamboyance both on and off the basketball court, into an international profile of controversy and quirk.

Think, his unlikely friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. Find out more about the stories behind the headlines, including his infamous wedding dress publicity stunt; as well as another high-profile relationship, with pop superstar Madonna. There are also more than 70 episodes of ‘30 for 30 Shorts’ to view and review on-demand. Short and sharp, these 15-minute hits recount some of sport’s most interesting and unique narratives.
