Dandenong and Casey Hospital emergency rooms Tier 1 exposure sites

There’s been another virus scare at Casey and Dandenong hospitals, with waiting rooms again declared Tier 1 sites.

For the fourth time in two weeks, the waiting room at Dandenong Hospital’s emergency department has been listed as a Tier 1 exposure site.

A case attended the waiting room from 1pm – 3.10pm on Monday, September 20, according to a Department of Health exposure site listing that appeared online after 10.30pm Tuesday night.

Dandenong Hospital’s waiting room was also listed as a Tier 1 site on Monday, in addition to its Tier 1 listing on September 11 and 12.

Despite Leader’s repeated attempts for comment, Monash Health has not disclosed how many staff have been furloughed.

The news comes as Casey Hospital in Berwick was also listed as a Tier 1 exposure site Tuesday night, after a case attended the site between 5.05pm – 10.43pm on Monday, September 20.

It’s the second time in a week that Casey Hospital’s emergency department has been a Tier 1 exposure site, after it was listed on Thursday, September 16.

The City of Casey recorded 10 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the number of active cases to 123, while Greater Dandenong recorded two new cases, bringing its total cases to 82.
