An anti-masker allegedly lashed out after being refused service at a beachside cafe in Melbourne.
Dramatic arrest photos obtained by the Herald Sun show the woman – dubbed on social media as “a Karen” – screaming while being led toward a divvy van in handcuffs.
The woman went to Cafe Fleur by Jen on Beach St in Frankston just before 12.20pm on Tuesday while not wearing a mask.
A staff member told the Herald Sun she blew up after being told to put on a mask.
The cafe refused to serve the woman who allegedly verbally assaulted staff before police were called.
“She refused to put a mask on,” a cafe worker said.
When police arrived the 58-year-old Frankston woman refused to give her name and allegedly assaulted a police officer.
The arrest images show a significant number of uniformed officers around her as she is handcuffed next to a parked car.
The woman remains in police custody and is assisting Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives with their inquiries.
Investigators believe a large number of people witnessed and filmed the incident as well as the lead up to the incident and have appealed for them to come forward.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
The incident comes after shocking video emerged of another dramatic anti-masker arrest in Collingwood.
A foul-mouthed mask dodger who allegedly assaulted two police officers while resisting arrest claims she is “not a f---ing criminal”.
The disturbing incident unfolded on Wellington Street in Collingwood after police questioned a young woman for disobeying health requirements to wear a face covering.
The Herald Sun understands the woman did not provide her details, prompting the arrest, which was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube.
She made a series of allegations while in police custody, including that the male police officer was choking her and that she had a medical reason for not wearing a face mask.
She can be seen throwing punches at the male officer yelling “what the f---”, before proceeding to kick a second police officer in the stomach region.
She was then pulled to the ground by a police officer in an attempt to subdue her.
“What the f--- are you doing to me,” the woman screams.
“Go f--- yourself. Get off of me. Why am I under arrest. I did not assault you. Get the f--- off me, you liar.
“You’re going to go to jail, c---. Please get off of me.”
The woman and a male offsider, who filmed the incident, repeatedly swore at the frontline officers during the arrest.
“You’re f---ing pathetic, get off her c---,” the man said.
“Get off her. She’s got an excuse for not wearing a mask mate.
“What about your 1.5m distancing, you f---ing d---heads.
“Ask yourself why you are attacking us, citizens. She is a girl, get off her. This is unconstitutional.”
Backup police officers were called to the scene and the woman was taken away in the back of a divisional van.
“Are you f---ing kidding me,” she said.
“Holy s---. I refuse to go in the back of this f---ing van, I am not a f---ing criminal.”
It comes as three women were charged with assaulting police last week, an offence that now carries a mandatory six-month jail sentence.
Victoria Police said they arrested a 21-year-old St Kilda woman after she refused to provide identification for breaching health directions on Monday about 5pm.
“Police made the decision to arrest the woman after she failed to provide her name and address,” police spokeswoman Alanna Jarry said.
“She also did not state she had an exemption for not wearing a face covering.
“She then became physically aggressive and kicked a female officer to the upper body.
“The woman continued to resist arrest and had to be taken to ground before being arrested.”
The female police officer was taken to hospital for observation.
The woman was charged with resist police and assault police and has been bailed to appear at court at a later date.
She did not receive a fine for failing to wear a face covering because she later told police she had an exemption.
The arrest has been referred to Professional Standards Command for oversight.
