There were several standing ovations for the performances at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Tuesday night, but one came as a big surprise.
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, was in the crowd for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Performance of a Lifetime: LIVE.
MC Zan Rowe pointed out that the “CHO was in the house” after the interval when Sutton was mobbed by people wanting selfies and pictures.
He was swarmed during the 20 minute break by mainly middle aged fans who were excited to catch a glimpse of the man who has presided over Victoria’s Covid response for the past two years.
When Sutton’s name was mentioned and he flashed on the screens a huge applause broke out, prompting him to stand up and clap the crowd in acknowledgement.
The main stars on stage included Dannii Minogue, Kate Ceberano, Lior, Deborah Cheetham, Tim Rogers, Ali McGregor, Rhonda Burchmore and Josh Piterman.
