Bill Shorten crashes car into cars in Pigdon St, Carlton

OPPOSITION leader Bill Shorten has crashed his late mother’s car into a number of other vehicles after a terrifying coffee mishap in Melbourne.

LABOR leader Bill Shorten sideswiped “a number” of cars while driving through Carlton on Sunday morning.

Mr Shorten was travelling along Pigdon Street about 10.30am when he crashed his late mother’s silver Mitsubishi Colt into the parked cars.

It’s understood Mr Shorten spilled a coffee in his lap, which caused the accident.

Mr Shorten inherited the car when his mum, Ann Shorten, who died aged 79 in April last year.

His office this morning confirmed the accident and said there was no-one injured and Victoria

Police were notified.

He is now dealing with the insurance claims.

The Opposition Leader was due to hold a press conference at Treasury Place about an hour later to comment on the terrorist attacks in Paris, but it was delayed by 30 minutes.

The street is 120 metres from where Mr Shorten was infamously involved in a “a big misunderstanding” over a $4.80 pie in 2012.

The then Workplace Relations Minister stormed out of the North Carlton Convenience Store and was accused by owner Annie Huang of verbally abusing her after she offered to microwave him a pie.
