Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Friday, August 13. The ASX 200 jumped to a record high with most sectors up after positive leads from Wall Street and strong gains in CSL and banks, except for CBA.

The S&P 500 gained 0.3 per cent, the Dow Jones added less than 0.1 per cent, while the Nasdaq rose 0.4 per cent. European markets were mixed after Asian markets mostly fell following China’s plans to tighten regulation.
