Lotus provides specialised folding walls and doors, creating “adaptable spaces” for commercial properties.
Telstra executive Nadine Russell said judges were impressed with Ms Jones’ “exceptional business acumen and ability to turn around the business in a short period of time”.
“She is extremely agile and resilient in a very challenging environment and shows a powerful ability to maintain and build team culture during major transitional periods,” Ms Russell said in a statement.
Most of the work Ms Jones had secured for Lotus was in the education and corporate sectors, Telstra said.
Ms Jones also won the gong in the Victorian medium and large-size business category at last night’s awards ceremony.
Among other winners, Fiona White, the director and founder of physiotherapy services business Own Body, won the small business award.
Own Body helps its clients find physiotherapists who provide in-home rehabilitation programs.
Leanne Hill, strategic procurement manager at Melbourne Water, won the public sector and academia award.
The purpose and social enterprise award went to Leah Waring, chief executive of social services group North East Support and Action for Youth.
Lauren Crystal co-founder of marketing agency Your Creative, won the emerging leader award.
Telstra’s Business Women’s Awards are now in their 24th year.
Ms Russell said they “recognise women who are undoing traditional business practices by using their own unique approach to rewrite what it means to be successful”.
“They are championing inclusion, innovation, and inspiring others to do the same,” she said.
The national winners will be announced on May 16.
