Australian coin collectors are fuming after the Royal Mint couldn’t keep up with the insane demand for this rare coin.

Is your $2 coin worth a fortune?

Aussie coin collectors are fuming after the Royal Australian Mint sold out of a limited edition coin in a flash.

Buyers reportedly queued online for over ten hours for a chance at the 2022 Remembrance Day coin.

Only 60,000 have been minted.

The Mint’s Call Centre and Mint Coin Shop have sold out of the 2022 Remembrance Day coin,” The Mint said to customers on Friday morning.

“The November release coins will be available from the Mint’s eShop at a future date.”

“The Mint will publish date and timing details for this release through this page and our website once details are confirmed.”

Collectors by the hundreds reported the Mint’s website crashed and phone lines clogged as they virtually gathered for the sought-after coin.

“This so bad, I can’t even ring, can’t use your legends voucher, can’t even purchase any coin online. And now all the people have been lucky enough to get the coin, have a chance of getting more,” one disgruntled collector wrote to the Mint.

“Disappointing this is now those who were able to get there in person now also have the opportunity to buy online. Some of us live interstate and have no other options,” said one person not able to attend the in-person store where some of the coins were sold.

The coins went on Sale on Thursday, and the vendor hit major issues almost instantly.

“The Mint is experiencing continued technical difficulties with its website. We have made the decision to delay the release of November products through our online store until these issues can be resolved,” it confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

“These products will not be released through our online store today. Customers will be advised through Mint’s Facebook page and website of the revised release date.”

On sellers wasted no time offloading the coins to desperate collectors with significant profit margins.

Pages of eBay listings appeared in the hours after the sellout – some asking $500 or more for the $15 ‘uncirculated’ coin.

The coin featuring the iconic red poppy marks the 10th anniversary of the original 2012 Red Poppy $ coin.

It bears a ‘C’ Mintmark, denoting Canberra and is only offered in strictly uncirculated condition

It is understood the coin will be the last yearly Remembrance Day coin to feature the late Queen Elizabeth II.
