Moment tradie discovers he won the lotto captured on camera

Kevin the tradie is going viral for his reaction after discovering he had won the lottery.

The moment an ecstatic tradie called Kevin discovered he was an instant millionaire was captured on camera by his equally excited mates.

It was shared to TikTok and has since been viewed 2.7 million times in a day, since the clip was first uploaded on Wednesday.

The man, dressed in high-vis and who appeared to still be on the worksite, could be seen holding a scrunched up lottery ticket.

Speaking in an Irish accent, he held the phone with shaking hands.

A voice on the other end of the phone read out the numbers to crosscheck them with Kevin’s ticket.

“Lovely, Kevin, are you ready?” the operator said.

“No, I don’t think I am,” Kevin said, prompting laughter from his friends.

Laughing herself, the operator pushed on and said “I can confirm that you have won one million dollars”.

The camera gets all shaky and cheers and screams erupt from everyone in the room.

“Oh my god,” Kevin says.

Social media users were also caught up in the excitement.

“Congrats to the guy, actually good to see a normal hard working person scoop a lottery win,” said one person, with 14,000 liking their comment.

“The lady on the phone has the best job in the world,” added another.

A third also commented: “What’s wholesome is your work mates have your back. Not even a hint of jealousy. Enjoy it”.

Kevin leans back on his chair stunned at the revelation.

Unsurprisingly, the tradie couldn’t stop smiling.

It is unknown where Kevin is from, though it could be Ireland or Northern Ireland based on his accent.

However, the TikTok account states on its bio “Here To Keep Ot Real Since Most Of The World Is Fake” so it is unclear how authentic the video is.

Kevin isn’t the only tradie to score a life changing sum of money.

Last month, news.com.au reported on a Sydney tradesmen who won the lottery, but it was substantially higher than Kevin’s $1 million fortune.

The Aussie man walked away $30 million richer.

However, he warned that becoming an instant multi-millionaire also had its downsides.

“What my motto has become, I guess winning the lotto doesn’t make you any happier, it just makes life easier,” he said.

“If you’re not happy, and you want to win the lottery [to change that] you’re going to be terribly mistaken.”

He had a lot of “weird” experiences when he told friends and family about the windfall.

“People have come out of the woodwork,” according to the ex-tradie.

“A lot of people find out through the grapevine – they never actually ask you. I had someone that I haven’t even seen since I was in school, probably 15 years ago.”

One very close friendship soured because “they didn’t take it well” when he told them he was now a multi-millionaire.
