Water buffaloes on the loose in Sydney’s inner west after breaking free from filming Korean Samsung commercial

THE filming of an ad on a busy city street has gone horribly wrong after two water buffalo escaped their constraints and went for a wander.

CITY slickers, Sydney style.

A pair of adventurous water buffaloes broke free of their shackles this morning after the filming of a Korean Samsung commercial went wrong in Sydney’s inner west.

The “angry” couple travelled for more than 2 kilomtres until they were caught by authorities.

Filming begun this morning at Sydney Park, when one of the animals broke free, choosing to run around the park’s oval before meeting up with the second buffalo, which was apparently agitated.

“They (buffaloes) are pretty angry, apparently,” one eyewitness said.

It was then that the second animal also broke free.

According to an eyewitness, props for the commercial were “everywhere” as the crew “freaked out and ran away”.

The buffaloes were tied up with “just a rope”, but broke free and started running down Newtown’s main strip on King Street.

Reports the livestock were being chased by a “buggy” were dismissed by the eyewitness, telling news.com.au that while there was a buggy set up, it was for a separate shot that did not include the buffalo.

Two actresses were also reportedly on set at the time.

NSW Police confirmed the two livestock had been contained at Sydney University, with one witness telling news.com.au police were running “after them with guns”.

However, police could not confirm this with news.com.au.

A NSW Fire and Rescue spokeswoman told AAP that firefighters from Newtown had contained the buffaloes in a makeshift pen.

Krimmer also confirmed the buffaloes would be removed by handlers.
