Shoppers are flocking to the shops for end of year bargains and food and drinks for post-Christmas celebrations. Here’s when the major retailers are open.

Christmas & New Year Weather Outlook: what to expect

Aussies will be flooding to the shops today to nab a bargain in the end of year sales, or pick up food and drinks for a New Year’s celebration.

Opening hours can differ from state to state, depending on the local laws, making knowing when you can get your shopping done over the holiday period even more confusing.

But fear not, we have listed all the holiday trading hours for some of Australia’s biggest retailers.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): All stores open and most Metro stores will be open in NSW, ACT, Victoria, WA, NT and Tasmania.

In Queensland, most stores will be open, excluding Ayr, Blackwater, Bowen, Charters Towers, Childers, Chinchilla, Kingaroy, Mission Beach, Mt Isa, Pittsworth, Proserpine, Roma and Weipa

In South Australia, all stores are open, excluding Millicent.

Public Holiday (December 27, 2021): All stores open and most Metro stores open in NSW, ACT, Vic, WA, SA, NT and Tasmania.

In Queensland, most stores will be open, excluding Ayr, Blackwater, Bowen, Charters Towers, Childers, Chinchilla, Kingaroy, Mission Beach, Mt Isa, Pittsworth, Proserpine, Roma and Weipa.

Public Holiday (December 28, 2021): All stores open and most Metro stores open in NSW, ACT, Vic, WA, SA, NT, Tas.

In Queensland, most stores will be open, excluding Ayr, Blackwater, Bowen, Charters Towers, Childers, Chinchilla, Kingaroy, Mission Beach, Mt Isa, Pittsworth, Proserpine, Roma and Weipa.

New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2021): All stores open across Australia

New Year’s Day (January 1, 2022): Most stores open and most Metro stores open in NSW, ACT, Vic, WA, NT and Tasmania.

In Queensland, most stores will be open, excluding Ayr, Blackwater, Bowen, Charters Towers, Childers, Chinchilla, Kingaroy, Mission Beach, Mt Isa, Pittsworth, Proserpine, Roma and Weipa

In South Australia, all stores are open, excluding Millicent.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): All stores open in Vic, ACT. All stores open in NSW, excluding Smithfield.

In Queensland, all stores will be open from 9am-6pm, excluding Ayr, Mt Isa & Goondiwindi. Some selected stores will be open 7am-9pm.

In South Australia, all Adelaide metropolitan stores will be open 9am-5pm and regional stores will be open 8am-8pm.

In Western Australia, all Perth metropolitan stores will be open from 8am-6pm, but this my vary in regional areas.

In the Northern Territory all stores are open, with stores in Darwin and Alice Springs open from 8am-8pm.

In Tasmania, all stores are open from 8am, with Burnie, Devonport, Meadow Mews and Ulverstone open from 7am.

Public Holiday (December 27, 2021): All stores open in NSW, Vic and the ACT.

In Queensland, all stores will be open from 9am-6pm, excluding Ayr, Mt Isa & Goondiwindi. Some selected stores will be open 7am-9pm.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): All stores will open at 9am, with the exception of South Australian stores which will open at 11am.

New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2021): All stores open.

New Year’s Day (January 1, 2022): Most stores will open from 10am, with South Australian stores opening from 11am.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): In NSW, all 24 hour stores will resume 24 hour trade at 8am. All other NSW stores will open 8am to 8pm, with exceptions including Griffith, Salamander Bay, Coffs Harbour, Forster South which close at 9pm; Armidale and Tamworth which close at 8pm; Yass, Tumut, Picton and Bowral which close at 7pm; Gunnedah, Moree, Katoomba, Windsor and Toormina which close at 6pm; Mudgee and Forbes which are open 9am to 5pm; Gunnedah and Moree which are open 9am to 4pm; Kotara, Armidale and Tamworth are open 9am to 8pm.

In the ACT, all stores are open from 8am-8pm.

In Victoria, all 24 hour stores will resume 24 hour trade at 8am and all other stores will open from 8am-8pm.

In Queensland, all stores open from 9am to 6pm, excluding the Bowen, Charters Towers, Ayr, Roma, Chinchilla, Goondiwindi and Mt Isa stores which are closed.

In Tasmania, all 24 hour stores will resume 24 hour trade at 8am. Devonport will be open 8am to 8pm; Rosny open 8am to 6pm; Burnie open 9am to 6pm.

In South Australia, all stores open 9am to 5pm, except Mt Barker, Mt Gambier, Port Lincoln and Port Pirie which close at 6pm.

In the Northern Territory, Darwin and Coolalinga open 9am to 6pm; Alice Springs opens 9am to 7pm; Katherine opens 9am to 5pm.

In Western Australia, all stores open 8am to 6pm. Exceptions are Eaton Fair which is open 7am to midnight; Kalgoolie which is open 8am to 3pm; Geraldton, which is open 11am to 5pm, Albany which is open 10am to 5pm; Pinjarra which is open 9am to 5pm and Esperance which is closed.

New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2021): Most stores open.

New Year’s Day (January 1, 2022): All stores open in NSW, ACT, Tasmania, SA, NT

Most stores open in Victoria from 8am-8pm, except Horsham, Mansfield, Maryborough and Wonthaggi which close at 6pm.

In Queensland, all stores are open, excluding Bowen, Charters Towers, Ayr, Roma, Chinchilla, Goondiwindi and Mt Isa stores.

All stores are open in Western Australia, excluding Esperance.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): All stores are open, with varying hours across the country.

New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2021): All stores are open.

New Year’s Day (January 1, 2022): All stores are open in Vic, ACT, Qld, Tasmania, SA, NT and WA.

In NSW all stores are open, except Shell Harbour, Warrawong, Wollongong which will be closed.

Christmas Eve (December 24, 2021): All stores open across Australia.

Christmas Day (December 25, 2021): Most stores closed, except for a selected few in NSW, VIC, ACT and SA.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021):All stores will be open.

BWS

Boxing Day (December 26, 2021): Most stores will be open.

Westfield

Westfield had extended trading hours in all this centres across Australia in the lead up to Christmas.

The centres will be closed on Christmas Day and most will reopen on Boxing Day.
