Coles adds fresh produce to locked price program

Coles will start adding selected fresh produce items to its lower price promise for the first time, as well as winter roasting favourites and popular household staples.

Coles will add selected fresh produce items to its locked price program for the first time from Wednesday.

The supermarket says the move is designed to give customers more certainty on the

price they pay for fruit and vegetables each week.

Lunch box favourites like mini apples and pears, and 2kg bags of potatoes, will be the first to have their prices set for at least the next six weeks.

Apple grower Scott Montague, whose business Montague is Coles supplier, said it was a great time of year to be buying and eating apples.

“We have a few more weeks of picking left in our winter harvest and mini apples are sweet, in season and a good way to get vitamin C and antioxidants into the kids,” he said.

Meanwhile, winter roast meats, household staples and popular brand items will be added to the Coles Dropped and Locked list.

Customers will be able to save 20 per cent on a Coles leg of lamb ($15 per kg down to $12), 14 per cent on Coles boneless pork loin roast ($14 per kg down to $12), La Espanola Olive Oil 500ml varieties ($13 down to $7) and 40 per cent off Somat Gold dishwashing tablets.

Coles Fresh executive general manager Andy Mossop said the supermarket was committed to helping customers find healthy and great value products throughout the cooler months.

“We understand that winter can be a challenging time to budget for fresh and healthy food

options,” he said.

“By working with our suppliers to lock the prices of fruit and vegetables we hope to make it easier for customers to eat well and stretch their dollar further.”
