Peter Foster, the man dubbed Australia’s greatest conman, has been arrested on fraud charges in far north Queensland.
The 57-year-old was arrested on a Port Douglas beach on Thursday morning following an investigation by New South Wales fraud squad detectives.
Three plain-clothed officers arrested Foster as he was walking his two dogs along Seven Mile Beach shortly before 8am today.
It follows a length investigation by NSW Police into allegations the conman had fleeced “millions of dollars from investors” through an online sports trading operation.
The notorious Gold Coast conman fled the southeast in June, after The Australian reported he was secretly running a “fraudulent sports trading” scheme, Sport Predictions, using an alias.

A private investigator is understood to have been based in Port Douglas for the past month scoping out Foster.
It’s understood he is facing at least 15 fraud and money laundering charges.
The fraudster has spent time behind bars in Australia, Vanuatu and Britain for a string of dodgy deals, including weight loss products and sports trading.
Most recently, Foster was jailed for 18 months in 2019 for using a fake name to dupe investors out of almost $20 million through the Sports Trading Club Scheme.
