Silver service

Milton jeweller Claude Downing is using his craftsmanship to help raise much-needed funds for the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation. Downing, who runs Claude & Me at Park Road, Milton, has produced 150 special commemorative pieces that will be sold by the foundation at its gala planned for this weekend. The silver pendant that feature the foundation’s name and butterfly logo is a nod to a pendant that Sue Clarke wears all the time and that was worn by her daughter Hannah on the day she was killed by her husband.

“I think everyone in Queensland admires the strength and courage of the Clarke family in campaigning for coercive control laws, and creating a safer place for families today and in the future,” says Downing. “I was honoured to be invited to help them, and we hope we have come up with something that not only helps to raise money and awareness, but will be something that people will wear with pride to show their support as well.”

Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation chair Mark Woolley said for more than four years the foundation has been blessed with many generous businesses and individuals who had joined in our battle against coercive control and domestic violence.
