Australia Post names Christine Holgate as new boss

COLLINGWOOD board member and Blackmores chief Christine Holgate has been confirmed as the new boss of Australia Post.

COLLINGWOOD board member and Blackmores chief Christine Holgate has been confirmed as the new boss of Australia Post.

As the Herald Sun revealed last week Ms Holgate, will replace Ahmed Fahour who resigned earlier this year.

She will start in the position in October.

The appointment comes after a global search, Australia Post chairman John Stanhope said.

“Christine has a demonstrated track-record of delivering results in large, complex organisations, both here in Australia and internationally,” he said.

“The Board was impressed by her experience of working very successfully in a range of different industries that are highly regulated. And, on top of that, she has a proven ability to implement strategy — and successfully grow a business in Asia.”

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull hinted at the appointment while speaking to Collingwood president Eddie McGuire on Triple M earlier this morning.

“It is a great Australian and a great hire,” he said.
