ASX up 0.7%; Macquarie up nearly 4%, travel stocks strong

Stocks are well into positive territory with the tech sector leading gains. Macquarie jumps nearly 4%. Travel stocks firm.

Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Friday, October 15.

Australia's share market closed higher with most sectors up as US futures gains adds to strong US leads.

The S&P/ASX 200 index closed up 0.7% at 7362.

Macquarie rose nearly 4% after Morgan Stanley boosted its target price.

Travel stocks jumped, with Flight Centre up 3.7% after NSW eased some travel restrictions.

The Materials sector was strong with OZ Minerals up 5.6% and Fortescue up 1.9% on commodity gains.
