The horror bushfire season, which claimed 25 lives and destroyed properties across NSW, has prompted a call for authorities to make it easier for residents to install fireproof bunkers in a bid to protect them from the unpredictable blazes.

The NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Services (WIRES) has received more than $60 million from around the world, but The Daily Telegraph can reveal only $6.5 million has been allocated to help treat thousands injured in the bushfires.

Royals to visit our bushfire towns

Prince William and his wife Kate are planning a trip to Australia to visit bushfire-ravaged communities and just need an invitation from Prime Minister Scott Morrison to make it official.

British vets help rebuild razed towns

The special squad — which is part of veteran-led disaster response organisation Team Rubicon — includes a former soldier, retired London police officer and even an arborist who has been helping to cut down trees around the devastated town of Cobargo.
