An American woman will remain in prison for at least the next nine days after allegedly breaching hotel quarantine in Perth multiple times, including to go shopping.

Police said Sonya Anglin arrived in Perth on a flight from Cairns on July 16 and was ordered to self-quarantine for 14 days at a hotel.

But during multiple checks on Ms Anglin, officers allegedly discovered she was not at the hotel.

“She had visited a licensed cafe and gone shopping within the Perth CBD,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

They corrected an earlier statement that said Ms Anglin had also gone to a nightclub.

Ms Anglin, who is a United States national, tested negative to Covid-19.

Police charged her with five counts of failing to comply with a direction.

She faced Perth Magistrates Court later on Wednesday where her bail application was rejected.

Ms Anglin was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 30.
