Two teenagers have been arrested in relation to the alleged stabbing death of an 18-year-old man in St Kilda in early December.

Tarneit man Hashim Mohamed died as a result of alleged stab wounds he received on the St Kilda foreshore on the evening of December 4.

Victoria Police announced on Wednesday they had arrested a 16-year-old Kurunjang boy and a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy in relation to Mohamed’s death.

Police said the pair will be interviewed by police, with authorities expected to make several more arrests in relation to the incident.

Warrants were executed from 6am on Wednesday morning across Melbourne’s northwest suburbs by members of the Homicide Squad, Gang Crime Squad and VIPER taskforce, along with local police.

Emergency Services were called to St Kilda at about 7:30 on the night of the incident following reports two groups of young men were brawling.

Mohamed was found unresponsive and was taken by ambulance to The Alfred Hospital, where he later died.

Nigel L’Estrange, Detective Acting Inspector at the Homicide Squad, said at the time “five to six” African males were involved in the fight, in which “a number of knives were used”.

More to come.
