Two men fighting for life after group stabbing at Victorian town

Horror has unfolded on the quiet streets of a regional Victorian city after multiple men were stabbed in the late hours of Saturday night.

Two Victorians are fighting for life and two more are injured after an alleged group stabbing in Shepparton on Saturday night.

Police were told a group of four men were allegedly involved in the assault near the intersection of Middlesex Crescent and Yorkshire Crescent about 11.15pm.

It is alleged one man stabbed two men with an “edged weapon”.

It is understood two men were stabbed, while another two men sustained injuries in a fight.

A 20-year-old Shepparton man received a life-threatening injury to the lower body, while a 35-year-old Shepparton man also received a life-threatening injury to the torso. Both were taken to hospital.

Paramedics also treated a 32-year-old local man, who was taken to hospital with a minor upper body injury.

A 38-year-old Shepparton man, who was located nearby with an injury to his upper body, was arrested and taken to hospital.

He remains under police guard and is yet to speak with officers.

A crime scene has been set up on Middlesex Crescent, between Poplar Avenue and Yorkshire Crescent, with traffic diversions in place.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unknown.
