Notorious Porsche driver Richard Pusey wants to force police officers to give evidence at court in their latest bid for bail, a court has been told.
The 44-year-old former mortgage broker appeared before the Supreme Court of Victoria on Friday afternoon for a brief administrative hearing.
Pusey – who uses they/them pronouns – represented themself in court and was walked through the process for the bail application.
They are facing two counts of using a telecommunications device to cause offence and two of committing an indictable offence on bail.
Pusey allegedly posted a review of a Porsche dealership’s website in February 2022 which included an image of a police officer killed in the horror Eastern Freeway crash in 2020.
It’s also alleged they attached a graphic photo to an email sent to the Australian Financial Complaints authority in December last year.
The court was told on Friday the notorious Porsche driver filed 15 subpoenas with the court and wanted to call at least three police officers to give evidence at the bail hearing due to be held next week.
However, Justice Lesley Taylor said that if Pusey wanted to go ahead with the subpoenas – which compel someone to give evidence or hand over documents – then it would delay their application.
“They’re relevant to the bail application,” Pusey told the judge.
“Actually, there’s additional subpoenas I wish to add,” they told the court.
But prosecutor Anthony Albore said there would be objections in relation to at least three of the requests directed at police officers.
The hearing came a week after their previous attempt to get released on bail was rejected in the Sunshine Magistrates Court.
Pusey was previously sentenced to 10 months’ jail after pleading guilty to the rare charge of outraging public decency for filming the aftermath of the crash which killed four police officers.
The case will return to court next week.
