Police are investigating a stabbing in Melbourne’s southeast after an 18-year-old man was knifed in the stomach in an allegedly “unprovoked” attack.
Investigators were told the man was at the beach in Seaford with a group of friends when he was approached by his alleged attacker on the evening of Thursday, November 19.
He was shouted at before the man stabbed the 18-year-old in the stomach.
The victim did not know his attacker.
The man, along with an associate who was waiting nearby, fled east towards Station Street and then north along the railway tracks, police say.
Police on Friday released CCTV of the two men they were hoping to speak to about the incident.
The first had a solid build and was approximately 186m tall.
He was wearing a two-tone green and dark blue hi-vis polo top, dark pants and white socks.
The second man was believed to be about 180cm tall with a slim build and was wearing a black Hilfiger t-shirt, dark knee-length shorts and a dark coloured cap.
He was unshaved and had short dark hair.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remained for a number of days.
Frankston Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the attack.
The incident took place just a week before tradie Cameron Smith was allegedly stabbed to death in the same area.
Mr Smith was found with life-threatening injuries near Seaford station after he was allegedly attacked while trying to defend his girlfriend on November 25.
The 26-year-old died at the scene.
