A woman who was mysteriously dropped at a Sydney hospital by an unknown man is suspected to have suffered a severed spine injury and damage to internal organs.
Detectives are renewing their pleas for public assistance in identifying the man who was captured on CCTV footage dropping the woman, who had been shot in the torso, at Bankstown Hospital.
The unknown man drove the 37-year-old woman to the emergency department in a white Mercedes at around 1pm on January 12 before abandoning his car outside the hospital.
Inquiries later led detectives to a Simmat Ave address in Condell Park where it is believed the shooting took place.
After establishing a crime scene at the home, detectives found bullet holes and casings; however, the identity of the man who took the woman to hospital, where she remains nearly one month later, is still unknown.
Strike Force Chelston, which is investigating the mysterious incident, released CCTV footage on Wednesday in a public appeal to identify the man.
After pulling up at the emergency department, the man runs to the passenger side of the vehicle and appears to tend to the woman before on-site paramedics take over.
The man paces near the car for a few seconds before walking away and disappearing from view.
He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 175cm tall with a medium build and a dark beard.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hoodie and black shorts over full-length black training tights.
Anyone with information that can assist investigators is urged to come forward and can contact Crime Stoppers.
