Kooyong independent Monique Ryan has told Coalition frontbenchers she’ll be Prime Minister before they are in a rowdy round of heckling in Question Time.
Dr Ryan, standing up to ask a question of a government minister, was immediately heckled by the Opposition.
Members of the Coalition, including Peter Dutton, could be heard calling Dr Ryan the “next prime minister” – a reference to claims she had told her staff she had ambitions of high office, as were raised in her High Court case against former staffer Sally Rugg.
Speaker Milton Dick called for order multiple times as the Coalition continued to heckle.

Dr Ryan asked an opposition frontbencher a number of times to repeat their heckle.
Eventually, she hit back with a clap back of her own to Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.
“I’ll be there before you are,” she said.
Mark Butler was eventually able to answer Dr Ryan’s question, saying: “Well, you’d think they’d have learned about interjecting on the member for Kooyong”.
Earlier, Mr Dick suffered two slip-of-the-tongues, after accidentally calling Treasurer Jim Chalmers “premier”, and referred to Mr Dutton as “prime minister”.
