A notorious bikie boss has been warned to stay out of trouble after he was sent to therapy for his anger management issues.

Mongols bikie boss Toby Mitchell has been fined $2500 and spared conviction for attacking two men after he went to therapy for anger management issues.

The 46-year-old appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to two charges of unlawful assault that took place in 2020.

Mitchell was spared conviction for both crimes but fined $2500 and ordered to be of good behaviour for six months.

“Let’s hope you stay out of trouble,” magistrate John Bentley said after he handed down the sentence.

Mitchell was ordered to undergo two therapeutic courses earlier this year when he pleaded guilty to attacking the men at South Yarra in October 2020 and Southbank a month later.

He undertook an alcohol awareness program, including attending meetings, and an anger management program.

Defence lawyer Theo Magazis said his client “successfully completed” the courses and finished 18 anger management counselling sessions.

Mitchell must pay a $2500 fine and be of good behaviour for six months.

The bikie hit a man while a group tried to hold him back during the November attack, but after a brief struggle between the pair the other man managed to punch Mitchell and knock him to the ground.

During the October incident, Mitchell assaulted a man outside Gilson cafe in South Yarra and repeatedly hit the victim.

A police officer previously described it as an “unprovoked attack”.

Mitchell appeared via videolink from his lawyer’s office.
