The pilot accused of killing two campers who disappeared while on a trip in the Victorian high country is facing delays in his case, a court has been told.

Former Jetstar pilot Gregory Stuart Lynn is charged with two counts of murder and faced the Sale Magistrates Court for an administrative hearing on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old is accused of killing Russell Hill and Carol Clay while camping at the Wonnangatta Valley on March 20, 2020.

The last known contact before they vanished was when Mr Hill was heard via HF radio, stating he was in the valley.

Lynn faced his court hearing via video-link from the Melbourne Assessment Prison wearing glasses and briefly resting his head on his hand.

During the hearing which lasted just five minutes the Caroline Springs man listened intently to the conversation between his lawyer, prosecutor and the magistrate.

Defence lawyer Chris McLennan said he was seeking the case be adjourned for a lengthy period due to a “combination of factors”.

“The brief has arrived in a digital form and my client hasn’t got access to a computer … as I understand it the prosecution needs about eight to 10 weeks to get exhibits and other transcripts,” Mr McLennan told the court.

He said they were hoping to be back before the court in August and out of an “abundance of caution” so the case wasn’t delayed again.

Prosecutors also needed the additional time to get transcripts and other exhibits together, the court was told.

Mr McLennan told magistrate Tim Walsh said he was “quietly confident” once the brief in a paper form they would be able to get the case moving.

Police will allege Mr Lynn killed the pair on March 20, when the duo embarked on their camping trip to the area.

Mr Hill left his home on March 19, and picked up Ms Clay from her home at Pakenham in his white Toyota Landcruiser.

Mr Hill was last heard from via HF radio starting he was at the Wonnangatta Valley.

Bodies found near Dargo, 400km east of Melbourne, during extensive searches were confirmed to be that of the missing campers in February.

Mr Lynn did not apply for bail and will return to court in August.
