After Manchester City's 6-3 demolition of Arsenal, we wonder if it is the best EPL squad ever?

DOES Manuel Pellegrini have the best ever Premier League squad at his disposal at Manchester City? Join the debate!

WELL, well, well.

The good old football lottery has once again thrown up some of the tastiest storylines available, none more so than Manchester City's tie with La Liga champions Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

There are plenty, led by Manuel Pellegrini, wondering whether the Catalan club still have the legs and the aura to dominate at European level.

"I think Barcelona will be very concerned that they have drawn us. They are not the team of two years ago," the City boss said.

News_Rich_Media: Sky Sports UK presenter Tony Wrighton discusses Tottenham's sacking of Andre Villas-Boas and mixed reaction from English clubs to the Champions League round of 16 draw.

Drawing City is quite the yardstick for Barca to cop as they strive to prove there's life left in an outfit that was usurped by Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga last term.

Gerardo Martino's outfit are top of La Liga with Atletico Madrid and have a squad rich with European experience. Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta, Xavi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Victor Valdes, Daniel Alves and co have all been their done that, and now they've a chap called Neymar in the mix as well.

On the other hand, Manchester City might be Champions League novices, but they bring with them one of the best squads on paper in Europe.

In fact, as they rocket into Premier League favouritism after their 6-3 win over Arsenal, the question is, do they bring the Premier League's best ever squad into Europe?

Here's an outfit that made eight changes from a mid-week win away at Bayern Munich - AWAY AT BAYERN MUNICH. That's a 3-2 comeback against a side who hadn't lost under Pep Guardiola.

News_Rich_Media: The good, the bad and the ugly events of round 16 of the Barclays Premier League.

While Olivier Giroud huffed and puffed in his exhausted shell on the weekend, City continued on their merry way when rampant goalscorer Sergio Aguero went off injured.

Staggering.

Even in this morning's Capital One Cup clash with Leicester, Pellegrini trotted out Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell and Edin Dzeko amongst his second stringers, with an attacking three of Jesus Navas, David Silva and James Milner.

In light of their weekend success and the tantalising Champions League match-up, we're wondering whether Manuel Pellegrini has at his disposal the deepest, strongest and most powerful EPL squad we've seen. We'll know a little more after their knock-out tie against Barcelona, that's for sure.

Have a look at some other contenders and join the debate.

MANUEL PELLEGRINI'S MANCHESTER CITY

News_Rich_Media: A full wrap of all the round 16 EPL action.

SQUAD: Joe Hart, Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta, Joleon Lescott, James Milner, Samir Nasri, Álvaro Negredo, Edin Džeko, Aleksandar Kolarov, Javi García, Jesús Navas, Sergio Agüero, Jack Rodwell, David Silva, Gaël Clichy, Fernandinho, Martín Demichelis, Richard Wright, Costel Pantilimon, Matija Nastasić, Stevan Jovetić, Dedryck Boyata, Yaya Touré, John Guidetti

There might be uncertainty over the goalkeeping position, but the Chilean is spoilt for choice. At home, City have been ridiculous, and you wonder whether it's a matter of time before they run riot away from Etihad Stadium as well. A player like Steven Jovetic has barely been spotted since his arrival, and Fernandinho's weekend display in the middle of the park, complementing Yaya Toure, showed that the recruitment has been as shrewd as it has been flamboyant. The major flaw in this argument is that the defensive line-up looks a shadow of itself without Vincent Kompany.

SIR ALEX FERGUSON'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNING UNITED SIDES

2008

Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Patrice Evra, Owen Hargreaves, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown, Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson, Louis Saha, Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Ben Foster, Park Ji-Sung, Zoran Tošić, Nemanja Vidić, Michael Carrick, Nani, Paul Scholes, Danny Welbeck, Fábio da Silva, Rafael da Silva, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson, Tomasz Kuszczak, Lee Martin, Fraizer Campbell, Carlos Tévez

Fergie wasn't lacking attacking artillery in this line-up either, which saw Carlos Tevez paired with Wayne Rooney, with Dimitar Berbatov in the mix as well. This team had depth across each line, but also one asset at its disposal that none of these other candidates had: Cristiano Ronaldo.

1999

Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville, Denis Irwin, David May, Ronny Johnsen, Jaap Stam, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, John Curtis, Jordi Cruyff, Jesper Blomqvist, Roy Keane, Raimond van der Gouw, Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Henning Berg, Wes Brown

Fergie's treble-winning squad from 1999 was a revered squad for its exploits in the 1990s, culminating with that dramatic night against Bayern Munich in Barcelona. The class of 1992, collectively, were in their pomp and has there ever been such a balanced, diverse quartet of strikers than Fergie's crop in '99? There was experience at the back, depth in midfield, telepathic understanding up front and options off the bench.

JOSE MOURINHOU'S 2004-2005 CHELSEA SIDE

Petr Čech, Glen Johnson, Claude Makélélé, Alexei Smertin, Ricardo Carvalho, Frank Lampard, Mateja Kežman, Joe Cole, Damien Duff, William Gallas, Geremi, Didier Drogba, Arjen Robben, Wayne Bridge, Scott Parker, Paulo Ferreira, Eiður Guðjohnsen, Carlo Cudicini, Mikael Forssell, John Terry, Jiří Jarošík, Robert Huth, Tiago.

Chelsea fans were licking their lips as Roman Abramovich immediately wielded his influence over the Premier League with a lavish spending spree. All of a sudden, Mourinho had the twin threats of Robben and Duff down each flank, the emergence of Didier Drogba, a keeper who would become one of the best in the world, and at least two players contending for each position.
