REVELLERS returning from last night’s White Party at South Stradbroke Island had to be evacuated in the early hours of this morning after their boat ran aground north of Paradise Point.
Queensland Water Police and Volunteer Marine Rescue were called to assist the commercial vessel carrying 177 passengers after it sailed into shallow water at Aldershots, between the north and south arms of the Coomera River, about 3am this morning.
All passengers returning from the event at McLarens Landing were safely evacuated and returned to Marina Mirage.
It is believed the boat operator was Brisbane-based.
The incident is being investigated by Queensland Water Police and Marine Safety Queensland.
