Surprising number of fines issued for not picking up after dogs
Signs in Gold Coast parks warn dog walkers of potential fines for not cleaning up after their pets, but only one fine has been given in the past ten months.
Dog waste has become a problem in various locations, including bush areas in Arundel where dozens of filled bags were found.Residents have pointed out issues in places like the off-leash beach at The Spit, pathways along the Broadwater, and suburban parks.Failure to clean up after dogs can result in a fine of $72. In the current financial year, only one fine has been issued, while four fines were given in the previous year.
