Bad boys and girls of Instagram
Bikies subject to consorting laws who post their lavish lifestyles on Instagram are being brought unstuck by the platform, says a former cop.
Retired superintendent Jim Keogh – who led a bikie blitz on the Gold Coast – says the social media posts were gold for police, and had brought many crooks undone.
Keogh says the new era of the flashy ‘Nike bikie’ was far removed from the old “hard heads” he used to round up.
This generation flood social media with images of their tattoos, cars and lavish lifestyles to thousands of followers. They are the 'Bikies of Instagram'.
Ben 'Notorious' Geppert rose to prominence when he began posting about his life and love affair obsessively.

The former Finks and Hells Angels bikie was jailed last year for bashing a man with a baseball bat on the Gold Coast over a drug debt.  
During his sentencing, the court heard he had a target on his back in jail because of his rep as an 'Instagram bikie'. “He cannot leave his unit without an escort ," his defence barrister said.
An offer of $1000 and some “remorse” allowed the ex-girlfriend of Ben Geppert  to walk from court after pleading guilty to stomping on a woman in a road rage attack.
Allaina Vader
 Vader, known for her revealing Instagram account, pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court in 2018 to six charges including common assault and drug possession.
Vader was sentenced to three months' prison to be suspended for an operational period of 12 months.
