A MOTHER-of-eight accused of stabbing two teenagers in the heart of Surfers Paradise will contest the charges, a court has heard.
Belinda Lee Baskerville, 37, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday charged with wounding, grievous bodily harm, and failing to comply with COVID-19 public health directions.
The Boronia Heights woman, who was dressed in a green prison jumper, sat in the dock with her arms crossed.
Police will allege a physical altercation broke out between a “large number of people” on The Esplanade just past 2.30am Friday.
During the fight, a man was stabbed in his rib cage with a knife, and a 17-year-old was also wounded, police allege.

The teens were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Magistrate Grace Kahlert refused bail saying it appeared to be a strong case as the “serious” allegations were captured on CCTV and there were independent witnesses.
She said she was concerned for the welfare of Baskerville’s children.
The court heard Baskerville was on bail at the time of the alleged offending.
Solicitor Brianna Edwards, of Legal Aid Queensland, said the allegations would be contested.
In arguing bail, which was opposed by the prosecution, Ms Edwards said her client was a mother, and sole carer, of eight children, whose ages ranged from three to 17
She said the children had no other support.
Ms Edwards said Baskerville’s bail could be managed with conditions, including a ban from the Gold Coast, and added she had no “finalised entries” of violence before the court.
The matter was adjourned to September 17.
