A GOLD Coast woman got behind the wheel more the three and a half times the legal alcohol limit to go just 600m to the pub.
Lesley Anne Spizzirri was only caught when she cut off a motorbike police officer when she made a sudden right turn.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to a single charge of driving under the influence of liquor.
Prosecutor Donn Reid said a motorbike police officer was following a station wagon on Crystal Springs Dr, Maudsland when the vehicle cut him off with a sharp right turn about 7pm on March 19.
He said the police officer intercepted the car and found Spizzirri driving.
A breath test recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.183 per cent.
Magistrate Michelle Dooley disqualified Spizzirri from holding a licence for nine months a fined her $900.
“(0.183 per cent) is a significantly high reading and she put herself and other people at risk when she did this,” she said.

Spizzirri’s lawyer Kris Jahnke, of Guest Lawyers, said Spizzirri had been going to a tavern about 600m away to pick up her diabetic husband who was feeling dizzy.
He said Spizzirri was concerned about her husband health and did not take into account how much she had drunk.
The court was told Spizzirri did volunteer work for St Vincent de Paul.
