Les ‘Grumpy’ Sharman named as suspect in murder of Tina Greer

A Gold Coast property is being turned upside down in the search for the remains of missing woman Tina Greer, who police believe was murdered by Les ‘Grumpy’ Sharman, a notorious Finks bikie who died in a car crash.

After nearly eight years searching for the body of Gold Coast mother Tina Greer, homicide detectives believe they know who killed her and are hopeful they’re searching the property where her remains were dumped.

Forensic crews, cadaver dogs and the SES are this morning scouring a Bonogin Valley property for Ms Greer’s body and evidence they believe was dumped there after Ms Greer went missing in January 2012.

Witness accounts confirm Miss Greer made it to her boyfriend’s house on Spicers Gap Rd in Aratula, near Boonah and she was seen leaving there on the morning of January 19.

But that same day her 58-year-old boyfriend, a patched member of the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Club, called Miss Greer’s brother to tell him she was missing.

Four days later Miss Greer’s maroon Holden Commodore was found abandoned at Governor’s Chair Lookout off Spicers Gap Rd, with all her personal belongings locked inside.

Police confirmed Miss Greer’s bank accounts had not been accessed since January 18, 2012 and it was suspected she may have met with foul play.

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Damien Hansen said Finks bikie Les Sharman – who died in a car accident in November 2018 – killed Ms Greer and they now believe dumped her body at the Bonogin property.

“We have conducted an extensive investigation and as such are preparing a report to the coroner in relation to Tina’s murder, we will be naming Les Sharman as our person of interest and we believe he has murdered Tina,” he said.

“I’m confident we know what happened and that will form part of our report to the coroner.

“I’m confident she didn’t die here.

“In relation to the search today, we have received some credible information, which has brought us to this property.

“We believe that Sharman has been assisted by persons in the disposal of Tina’s body and the disposal of evidence that is linked to the murder.”

He said they had extensive resources on site to search for her remains and that the people who currently own the property have nothing to do with the crime.

“We’re looking for Tina’s remains and evidence of the murder that has been disposed of here.

“I’m very hopeful that we’ll locate it (Tina’s remains) and I’m also very confident that we will be able to bring further people in and prosecute people for this offence.

“We have got SES, cadaver dogs, forensic and scenes of crime as well as investigators.”

He said Les Sharman was a feared man and his death may have put people at ease to come forward with information.

“He was a 26-year patched member of the Finks motorcycle gang. With his passing, perhaps people have been more willing to come forward.

“It’s always been a difficult investigation, it is difficult for people to provide information on those sorts of people, he was a feared man.”

The search of the property continues.

Police are appealing for people with any information about the suspected murder of Tina Greer to come forward. Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
