A Gold Coast lawyer’s car has been found destroyed just half an hour after it was reported stolen from his home while he and his partner slept.
Jeffrey Horsey’s Ford Mustang was found dumped on Entertainment Dr at Oxenford after a brief joy ride on Wednesday morning.
Police said the vehicle had “significant damage to the front end” when it was found.
Officers said it was taken from his Oxenford property by a barefooted thief – wearing gloves and a black hoodie – about 5.40am Wednesday while the couple slept.
The manual vehicle – purchased in March – was found written off half an hour later at 6.10am.

Mr Horsey, of Jeff Horsey Solicitor, said he did not hear his Mustang leave the house as he had his door closed with the airconditioning on.
He only realised when police were at his house at 6am and his door was wide open.
Mr Horsey said the back door had been kicked in.
“Forget about the car, I’m right angry that someone was in my house,” he said.
“My kids weren’t there that night, thank god.”
The car was found written off only a short distance from his property.
“It’s cactus. The whole front end is ripped off. It’s missing every panel off the front. There’s not a panel on the left-hand side that’s not damaged.
“He (the offender) was only a kid, so possibly (he didn’t know how to drive manual).
“It’s got a bit of horse power, it’s a V8 Ford Mustang.
“It’s a bit of a bend in the road there … just past Wet n Wild and you can see where he’s lost it. He’s gone down an embankment, smashed down about half-a-dozen trees. That’s where all the panels are and then he’s got about another 100 metres, pulled over the side of the road and that’s where the car’s ended up.”
Mr Horsey said offenders gave no thought to the consequences. He said the thief didn’t even bother hiding his face from the house security system.
